Reviews

Last Shift has been praised by critics for its effective use of atmosphere and sustained tension. On Rotten Tomatoes, it holds an impressive 100% approval rating, indicating strong positive reception from critics who laud its minimalist yet impactful approach to horror. Many reviews highlight Juliana Harkavy's compelling performance, with the New York Times noting, "Harkavy anchors the film with a grounded and emotional portrayal that elevates the eerie storyline." However, some viewers on IMDb gave it a mixed reception, resulting in an average rating of 5.8/10. This divergence often stems from audience expectations; while horror aficionados appreciate the film's slow build and psychological depth, others find it somewhat underwhelming due to its deliberate pacing and lack of traditional jump scares. Metacritic scores are limited, but similar sentiments echo in user feedback—praising the film's mood and atmosphere but suggesting it may not satisfy those seeking intense action. Overall, Last Shift is recognized as an effective thriller that excels in mood, character work, and psychological horror elements, though it may not cater to all tastes within the genre.
