Reviews
"Cat and Mouse" received mixed reviews from both critics and audiences. On IMDb, the film holds a rating of 5.2/10, indicating a lukewarm reception. Critics acknowledged Andy Lau's strong performance, especially his ability to portray two distinct characters convincingly, which provided the film with its emotional core. The action sequences were generally praised for their choreography and energy. However, some reviewers criticized the film's pacing and convoluted plot which some found difficult to follow. Rotten Tomatoes does not have an aggregated score for this title, reflecting its niche appeal and limited international exposure. According to some Hong Kong cinema critics, while the movie offered stylish visuals and impressive stunts, it failed to capture the full depth of the source material, leading to a less impactful narrative. Fans of the genre might appreciate the filmโs homage to classic wuxia elements, but casual viewers may find it somewhat uneven or overstuffed.
