Reviews

Double Dragon received largely negative reviews from critics, with a general consensus pointing to its underwhelming execution despite its source material potential. On Rotten Tomatoes, it holds a low approval rating of 12%, signaling widespread critical disapproval. The consensus often highlights the film's lack of engaging storytelling and underdeveloped characters, with reviewers citing that the movie prioritizes action style over substance. IMDb users have given it a score of 3.9/10, reflecting viewer dissatisfaction with aspects such as the plot and dialogue. Metacritic’s aggregated score is 40/100, indicating mixed or average reviews, although leaning towards the negative. Critics from major outlets commented on its thin narrative and reliance on clichés; some noted that while Mark Dacascos performed admirably in action scenes, the film failed to deliver a compelling story or memorable performances. Nonetheless, certain fans of martial arts and nostalgic video game adaptations might find some enjoyment in its choreographed fight sequences and the attempt to bring the game’s universe to life. Overall, Double Dragon is often regarded as a flawed but occasionally entertaining cult film that did not resonate widely with critics or audiences.
