Synopsis
Amen. is a 2002 film directed by Costa-Gavras based on the play "The Deputy" by Rolf Hochhuth. The movie tells the story of a German officer who discovers the horrors of the Holocaust and tries to alert the world about it, but is faced with bureaucratic indifference and the silence of the Vatican. Ulrich Tukur delivers a powerful performance as the conflicted officer torn between his duty and morality. Through compelling storytelling and striking visuals, Amen. sheds light on the complicity of institutions during one of humanity's darkest periods, raising thought-provoking questions about accountability and individual responsibility.

Amen. received mixed reviews from critics. While some praised the film for its provocative subject matter and strong performances, others criticized its pacing and lack of emotional depth. Rotten Tomatoes gave it a rating of 67%, with critics expressing both admiration for its boldness and reservations about its execution. Metacritic scored Amen. at 57/100, highlighting a divisive response from reviewers.
