Reviews
Critical reception for "Hummingbird" was mixed, reflecting a divided response to both its narrative and Jason Statham's performance. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds a 50% approval rating, indicating a split consensus with some critics appreciating the emotional depth beneath the action sequences, while others found the plot clichéd and uneven. Metacritic assigned it a score of 43 out of 100, signaling generally unfavorable reviews. IMDb users gave it a 6.2/10, suggesting moderate audience enjoyment. Reviews praised Statham for showing vulnerability beyond his typical tough-guy roles; The Guardian noted that his portrayal "strives to elevate the film above a standard action flick," yet criticized the screenplay for relying heavily on familiar vigilante tropes. Variety highlighted the "gritty London backdrop and Statham’s effort to add nuance to a revenge story," but felt the film's pacing and character development were lacking. Overall, "Hummingbird" was seen as a well-intentioned but flawed entry in the action thriller genre, offering moments of genuine emotion amid conventional violence.
