Reviews
Topaz received mixed reviews from critics upon its release. While some praised Alfred Hitchcock's direction and the film's suspenseful atmosphere, others found the plot convoluted and the pacing uneven. Variety described the film as 'a creditable entry in the Hitchcock canon' and praised its intricate storyline, while Roger Ebert criticized its lack of character development and emotional depth. Despite its flaws, Topaz showcases Hitchcock's mastery of suspense and keeps audiences engaged throughout. Its blend of Cold War intrigue and double-crossing agents makes for a thrilling watch that will appeal to fans of the spy genre. IMDb rates Topaz 6.2/10, while Rotten Tomatoes gives it a score of 69%.
