Reviews

Algiers, released in 1938 and directed by John Cromwell, received mixed reviews from critics at the time of its release. While some praised the film for its captivating portrayal of the exotic North African setting and the compelling performances of the cast, others found the plot to be somewhat predictable and lacking in depth. The cinematography and set design were highlighted as standout aspects of the film, transporting viewers to the vibrant streets of Algiers with stunning authenticity.
