Reviews
Dragnet received mixed reviews upon its release. While some critics praised the chemistry between Dan Aykroyd and Tom Hanks, others found the humor formulaic and the plot lacking depth. The Hollywood Reporter mentioned, "Aykroyd and Hanks make an entertaining pair, but the film's comedic potential is overshadowed by its generic storyline." On the other hand, Roger Ebert from Chicago Sun-Times gave it 3/4 stars, calling it "an entertaining mix of homage and satire to the classic TV series." Rotten Tomatoes rates the movie at 50%, with a consensus that reads: "Dragnet struggles to translate the comedic charm of the original series to the big screen." IMDb score sits at 6.0/10, reflecting a moderate reception, while Metacritic's 62/100 suggests a slightly more favorable critical outlook.
