Reviews

Manmadhan received a mix of positive and critical responses upon its release. On IMDb, it holds a respectable rating of 7.2/10, reflecting generally favorable audience reception. Critics praised Silambarasan's compelling performance, highlighting his ability to portray layered emotions and a complex character convincingly. Rediff commended the film for its intriguing storyline and engaging screenplay, noting, "Manmadhan is a refreshing take on psychological thrillers in Tamil cinema." However, some reviews pointed out that the film's pacing lagged in the second half and that the moral ambiguities could be polarizing for viewers. Behindwoods appreciated the direction and music, stating, "A. J. Murugan crafts a taut narrative supported by Yuvan Shankar Raja's memorable score." While not universally acclaimed, Manmadhan was recognized for its bold approach to storytelling in the genre, making it a memorable entry in early 2000s Tamil cinema.
