Reviews

Return to Nim's Island received mixed to negative reviews from critics and audiences alike. On IMDb, it holds a rating of 4.9/10 based on user feedback, indicating a lukewarm reception. Rotten Tomatoes does not have an official Tomatometer score but reviewers noted that the film feels somewhat formulaic and lacks the charm of its predecessor. Common Sense Media awarded the film 3 out of 5 stars, highlighting its family-friendly adventure elements but pointing out that the plot may be predictable for older viewers. Some critics praised Matthew Lillard's performance and the film's appeal to younger audiences who appreciate nature-themed stories, while others felt the movie lacked engaging storytelling and depth. The Guardian remarked that although the movie was 'pleasant and visually attractive,' it failed to capture true excitement or originality. Overall, Return to Nim's Island was acknowledged as a safe, gentle adventure suitable mostly for younger children and fans of the original film, though it struggled to impress a wider audience or critics seeking a more compelling narrative.
