Synopsis

Alter Egos is a 2012 indie superhero comedy film that explores the lives of two superheroes, Bruce and Bart, who once fought crime side-by-side but have since parted ways under complicated circumstances. Now, Bruce struggles with balancing his hero identity and his personal life, especially as he faces the influx of new heroes and villains in the city. When an unexpected event forces Bruce and Bart to reunite, they must confront unresolved tensions and collaborate to save the city from looming threats. The film offers a witty, character-driven take on the superhero genre, blending humor, action, and heartfelt moments in a fresh narrative about friendship, identity, and redemption.

Reviews

Alter Egos received mixed reviews upon its release, garnering a 5.2/10 rating on IMDb that reflects viewers' divided opinions. Critics praised the film for its indie charm and creative approach to the superhero trope, highlighting Kris Lemche's earnest performance and the movie's humorous dialogue. For instance, some reviewers appreciated its clever, low-budget take on the genre, noting it as "a refreshing, character-focused story that doesn't rely on blockbuster effects." However, others found the pacing uneven and the plot somewhat predictable. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film does not have a critical consensus but resonates more with audiences who enjoy offbeat superhero narratives. Metacritic scores are limited, but available feedback suggests the film's appeal is mostly niche, appealing to viewers looking for a quirky indie comedy rather than mainstream superhero action. Overall, Alter Egos stands out for its unique voice and charm but may not satisfy those expecting a typical high-octane superhero film.
