Synopsis

Set in Nazi-occupied Berlin during World War II, "Everyone Dies Alone" follows the story of an ordinary couple, Otto and Anna Quangel, who start a daring campaign of resistance against the dictatorship. After losing their son in the war, they begin anonymously writing postcards calling for an end to the regime. As their acts of defiance escalate, their actions have profound consequences on those around them. Based on the true events and inspired by the real-life Gestapo case files, the film portrays the courage and resilience of individuals in the face of tyranny.

Reviews

Critics have praised "Everyone Dies Alone" for its powerful storytelling and compelling performances. The New York Times described it as a 'gripping wartime drama that resonates with authenticity.' The Guardian lauded the film for its 'raw portrayal of the human spirit in the darkest of times.' Variety commended Hildegard Knef's portrayal of Anna Quangel, calling it 'captivating and emotionally charged.' Despite its somber subject matter, the film has been lauded for its authenticity and attention to historical detail.
