Reviews
Where the Money Is received mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike. On Rotten Tomatoes, it holds a 49% approval rating, reflecting a polarized reception. The consensus critiques the film for relying on familiar heist tropes and lacking the emotional depth expected from a Paul Newman vehicle. Metacritic scores the movie 49 out of 100, indicating average or mixed reviews. IMDb users rate it 6.3/10, suggesting moderate enjoyment but not overwhelming acclaim. Critics from Variety noted the film as "a somewhat tepid crime comedy that doesn't quite capitalize on Newman's charisma." Similarly, Roger Ebert awarded it 2.5 stars out of 4, praising Newman's performance but critiquing the film's pacing and predictability. Despite these criticisms, some reviewers appreciated the chemistry between Newman and Fiorentino, as well as the blending of gentle humor with the crime caper elements. Overall, "Where the Money Is" is seen as an entertaining but somewhat forgettable entry in the heist genre.
