Reviews
Riddle Story of Devil has received mixed to moderately positive reviews from critics and audiences alike. On IMDb, it holds a rating of 7.0/10, suggesting a generally favorable reception among viewers. Many praised the series for its engaging premise and character dynamics, particularly the suspense generated by the assassin-versus-target setup. ANN (Anime News Network) highlighted the show’s unique blend of action and psychological elements but noted that its pacing can sometimes feel uneven, with certain episodes focusing heavily on character backstories which slow down the plot’s momentum. Some critics appreciated the development of the lead characters, especially Tokaku Azuma’s transformation from a cold assassin to a more empathetic protector. However, others expressed concerns over the anime’s handling of fanservice, which some felt detracted from the story’s darker tone. While the animation quality was considered decent, it did not particularly stand out compared to contemporaries. Overall, Riddle Story of Devil appeals mainly to viewers interested in psychological thrillers with a mix of action and character complexity, though it may not satisfy those looking for fully nuanced storytelling or consistent pacing.
