Reviews
Shadowboxing has received mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike. Currently holding a 5.8/10 rating on IMDb, the film has been praised for its intense performances, particularly by Andrei Panin, whose portrayal of the seasoned coach brings depth to the story. According to The Moscow Times, 'Andrei Panin's performance is a standout, adding gravitas to a familiar sports narrative.' However, some critics have noted that the film's plot can be somewhat formulaic. On Rotten Tomatoes, user reviews highlight this aspect, with comments stating, 'While Shadowboxing delivers on action and drama, it treads well-worn paths that may feel predictable to seasoned moviegoers.' On Metacritic, the film's reception is similarly divided, with a score that illustrates a blend of enthusiasm for its acting and criticism for its narrative cliches. Despite these critiques, many viewers appreciate the movie for its emotional intensity and its portrayal of human struggle and perseverance.
