Synopsis
In the gripping 2012 horror film Citadel, directed by Ciaran Foy, we are introduced to the troubled character of widowed father, Tommy, played by Aneurin Barnard. Haunted by a traumatic experience when he was attacked in a high-rise housing project, Tommy suffers from agoraphobia, becoming increasingly isolated and fearful of the outside world. When his newborn daughter is threatened, he is forced to confront his demons and venture outside the safety of his home. The film captures the essence of psychological horror through a tense atmosphere and a sense of dread as Tommy battles not only his fears but also a shadowy, malevolent presence lurking in the city. As he navigates through his paranoia and a mysterious group of troubled youths, Tommyโs journey reveals deeper themes about fear, grief, and the lengths a parent will go to protect their child, resulting in a chilling commentary on urban decay and vulnerability.
