Reviews
Dear Dictator has received a mixed to negative reception from critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, it holds a meager 17% approval rating, with critics noting that the film fails to deliver on its comedic potential. The consensus reads, 'Despite its intriguing premise and Michael Caine's presence, Dear Dictator sinks under the weight of a weak script and lackluster direction.' IMDb users rated it 5.0 out of 10, indicating a lukewarm response from audiences. Metacritic scores it at 44/100, suggesting generally unfavorable reviews. Some audiences appreciated the charm of Michael Caine, with one review stating, 'Caine brings a seasoned performance that elevates some of the dialog, but even his charisma can't save the overly simplistic plot.' Others felt that the film's attempt at humor was uneven, remarking that 'the jokes often fall flat and the pacing feels sluggish.' While some viewers found it to be a light-hearted escape, many agreed that Dear Dictator did not fulfill its promise of a witty satire. Overall, the film seems to struggle to maintain its comedic tone amidst a convoluted storyline and misfired moments.
