Reviews
Days of the Turbins holds a respectable rating of 7.8/10 on IMDb, signaling generally favorable reactions from audiences. Critics have praised the film's faithful adaptation of Bulgakov's source material as well as the strong performances delivered by the cast, notably Andrey Myagkov. Many reviews highlight the film's atmospheric depiction of historical turmoil and its thoughtful introspection into the personal costs of civil conflict. However, some critiques note that the film's pacing may feel slow to viewers unaccustomed to Soviet-era cinema, and that its focus on dialogue and character interactions may lack the visual dynamism found in more modern war dramas. Despite this, reviewers emphasize the cultural and historical significance of Days of the Turbins, commending it as a valuable cinematic experience for those interested in Russian literature and history. On aggregator platforms like KinoPoisk, it maintains a strong reputation for its faithful literary approach and compelling emotional depth, though it has not received wide contemporary critique on Western mainstream sites such as Rotten Tomatoes or Metacritic. Overall, the film is regarded as a poignant and well-crafted period drama that resonates even decades after its release.
