Reviews
Critics gave mixed yet generally positive reviews to El Apando (The Heist). Roger Ebert described the film as a 'gritty and suspenseful portrayal of life in a Mexican prison' and praised the tense atmosphere created by director Felipe Cazals. The unexpected plot twists and complex characters were highlighted by Film Threat, stating that 'El Apando offers a raw and authentic look at the harsh realities of incarceration.' However, not all reviews were glowing, with The New York Times critiquing the film for its slow pacing and lack of character development. Despite some flaws, audiences and critics alike appreciated the film's powerful performances, particularly Manuel Ojeda's compelling portrayal of a conflicted inmate. IMDb users rated the movie with a respectable 7.5/10, praising its intensity and realistic depiction of life inside a prison.
