Synopsis

In the midst of the Great Depression, a ruthless railroad conductor Shack (played by Ernest Borgnine) stands as the tyrant of the rails, enforcing his rule with an iron fist. When a legendary hobo known as A-No. 1 (portrayed by Lee Marvin) sets out to ride Shack's fabled train, a deadly game of cat and mouse ensues as Shack will stop at nothing to prevent A-No. 1 from achieving his goal.
