Critical reception for "Extraordinary Measures" was mixed. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds a low approval rating of 29%, with critics citing its predictable storyline and melodramatic tone. The consensus suggests that while it has heartfelt intentions, it falls short in delivering a compelling, nuanced narrative. Metacritic gives it a score of 45/100, reflecting mixed or average reviews, where some praised the performances, especially Brendan Fraser's earnest portrayal, and Harrison Ford's presence, but criticized the film's formulaic approach. IMDb users gave the movie a modest rating of 6.4/10, indicating a generally favorable audience response despite its flaws. Some reviewers appreciated the inspirational message and emotional core, saying it "captures the urgency and emotion faced by families battling rare diseases," but others found it "tacky and manipulative," with a "predictable script that lacks depth." Overall, "Extraordinary Measures" resonates best with viewers drawn to true stories of medical perseverance, though it may not satisfy those seeking a more sophisticated or subtle drama.
