Reviews
Flesh received mixed reviews upon its release in 1932. While some critics praised Wallace Beery's powerful performance and the film's raw depiction of the wrestling world, others found the story lacking depth. Variety magazine commented that 'Wallace Beery gives a standout performance as the conflicted protagonist, bringing depth and emotion to his role.' However, The New York Times criticized the film for its predictable plot and melodramatic elements. Despite the differing opinions, Flesh has endured as a classic of the pre-Code era, offering a unique glimpse into the harsh realities of Depression-era America. IMDb users have rated Flesh 6.5/10.
