Reviews
GTO's 2012 live-action adaptation received moderate to positive attention from audiences and critics alike. On IMDb, the series holds a respectable rating of 7.4 out of 10, reflecting general viewer appreciation for its engaging characters and impactful storytelling. Critics widely praised the charismatic performance of Akira as Eikichi Onizuka, highlighting his ability to bring humor and humanity to the role. The show was commended for its balance of comedy and drama, with many noting that it successfully retained the spirit of the original manga while adapting it to a live-action format. However, some reviews pointed out that the pacing could occasionally feel uneven, and certain plot arcs may appear melodramatic to viewers unfamiliar with Japanese school dramas. Overall, GTO remains a beloved classic among fans of Japanese drama and manga adaptations, appreciated for its bold storytelling and memorable characters.
