Reviews
Home Alone: The Holiday Heist received predominantly negative reviews from critics and audiences, reflecting its modest IMDb rating of 3.5/10. Critics often noted that while the film tried to capture the charm and antics of the original Home Alone movies, it fell short on originality and humor. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds a low approval rating with reviewers criticizing its predictable plot and less engaging performances. Common Sense Media pointed out the film's lack of the original's wit and genuine holiday spirit but acknowledged it could still entertain younger audiences with its slapstick comedy and family-friendly content. Metacritic scores also reflect mixed-to-negative feedback, emphasizing weak writing and uninspired direction. Nonetheless, some viewers appreciated the movie’s attempts to bring a new generation into the Home Alone franchise, finding the traps inventive and Christian Martyn’s performance endearing. Overall, the movie is seen as a lighthearted, if forgettable, holiday romp best suited for children and families seeking mild entertainment during the season rather than a classic.
