Synopsis
In the futuristic world of Idiocracy, where ordinary people are considered intellectually superior, an average soldier, Joe Bauers (Luke Wilson), and a prostitute, Rita (Maya Rudolph), find themselves as the smartest individuals alive. Unintentionally part of a government experiment, they are cryogenically frozen for 500 years, only to wake up in a society where stupidity reigns supreme. Facing absurd challenges and mind-boggling situations, Joe and Rita must navigate this hilariously dumbed-down world to fix the consequences of their unforeseen time travel. Idiocracy is a satirical comedy that explores the consequences of extreme ignorance and the importance of critical thinking in a society that appears to have lost it all.
