Reviews
Into the Dark received mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike. On IMDb, it holds a rating of 5.4/10, reflecting a lukewarm reception. Some reviewers praised the film's atmospheric tension and the performances, particularly highlighting Thorbjørn Harr's intense portrayal. The controlled claustrophobic settings created an unnerving mood that many found compelling. However, critics pointed out shortcomings in pacing and character development, with some feeling the narrative relied too heavily on genre clichés without offering fresh insight. For instance, a review from a Scandinavian film blog appreciated the gritty realism but noted that "the plot at times meanders, leaving viewers longing for stronger emotional engagement." On the other hand, fans of Nordic thrillers appreciated the authentic regional setting and suspenseful ambiance. Rotten Tomatoes does not have sufficient reviews for a consensus, indicating the film's limited exposure outside Norway. Overall, the film is considered a modest addition to the Nordic thriller genre with moments of gripping intensity but hindered by uneven storytelling.
