Reviews
Knight Moves received a mixed to negative reception from critics and audiences alike. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds a low approval rating of 17%, indicating a generally unfavorable consensus. Many reviewers criticized the film for its convoluted plot and lack of compelling character development. For instance, some critics pointed out that despite the intriguing premise of blending chess strategy with a murder mystery, the execution felt dull and failed to maintain suspense. However, Christopher Lambert's performance was often noted as a strong point, with some acknowledging his effort to bring depth to the complex protagonist. On IMDb, the film has a rating of 6.1/10 from users, which suggests a more moderate reception among general audiences. Reviews on Metacritic are scarce, but the overall critical sentiment leans toward disappointment, highlighting pacing issues and a script that doesn't fully capitalize on its potential. While Knight Moves may appeal to fans of psychological thrillers and chess, its limited critical acclaim and polarizing narrative have kept it from becoming a mainstream favorite.
