Synopsis
Set in early 20th century Vienna, Letter from an Unknown Woman tells the poignant story of Lisa (played by Xu Jinglei), a young woman who falls deeply in love with a famous writer, Stefan Brand (played by the acclaimed actor). For years, Lisa silently observes and adores Stefan from a distance, but their paths only converge through unfortunate misunderstandings and the fleeting nature of love. As she navigates her feelings, Lisa becomes a vivid presence in Stefan's life, even though he remains unaware of her sacrifices and unrequited affection. The film, beautifully shot and emotionally resonant, explores themes of passion, longing, and the pain of unexpressed emotions, leaving audiences to reflect on the nature of love and its profound complexities. Despite her deep feelings, Lisa's hopes for happiness seem just beyond her grasp, leading to a heart-wrenching conclusion that lingers long after the credits roll.
