Using his newfound powers, Hawkins becomes the vigilante superhero M.A.N.T.I.S. and fights against crime in the city of Edenstown. As he battles both conventional criminals and futuristic adversaries, Hawkins navigates the challenges of being a lone hero with a complex past. The show blends science fiction, action, and social commentary, exploring themes of justice, identity, and redemption in a high-tech urban setting.

Reviews

M.A.N.T.I.S., starring Carl Lumbly, received a mixed reception from critics and viewers alike. While some praised the show for its diverse cast, innovative premise, and strong lead performance, others found fault in its occasionally uneven writing and special effects. Rotten Tomatoes critics consensus states, 'M.A.N.T.I.S. offers a fresh take on the superhero genre with its emphasis on a disabled protagonist turned hero, but struggles to maintain consistency in its execution.' IMDb users have rated the show 6.1/10, with some citing its unique blend of sci-fi and social issues as a highlight, while others felt it lacked depth in character development. Metacritic's user reviews are similarly divided, with praise for the show's ambition tempered with criticism of its pacing and episodic structure. Overall, M.A.N.T.I.S. is a notable entry in the superhero genre that both intrigues and entertains, though its potential is not fully realized.
