Synopsis

Mustang is a coming-of-age drama that follows the lives of five spirited sisters living in a rural Turkish village. After an innocent playtime with boys leads to scandal in their conservative community, the girls find themselves confined at home and forced into arranged marriages one by one. Despite the oppressive circumstances, the sisters hatch a plan to break free and embrace their independence against all odds. Directed by Deniz Gamze Ergüven, Mustang beautifully captures the struggles of youth, sisterhood, and freedom amidst a backdrop of patriarchal traditions and societal pressures. The film delicately weaves themes of resilience, defiance, and empowerment as the sisters navigate their way towards self-discovery in a world determined to suppress their spirits.
