Reviews
"Phoonk" received mixed reviews from critics, with many appreciating its attempt to bring horror elements rooted in Indian superstition but criticizing its execution. On IMDb, the film holds a modest rating of 4.0/10, reflecting mixed audience reactions. Critics from Bollywood Hungama noted the film's "ambitious narrative and strong lead performance by Sudeep," but highlighted that "the screenplay falters with pacing issues and predictable scares." Rediff.com criticized the film for "relying heavily on clichéd jump scares and lacking a cohesive storyline," although it acknowledged the eerie atmosphere created by the cinematography. Many reviewers pointed out that while "Phoonk" effectively builds tension early on, the climax and resolution left viewers unsatisfied. Despite these critiques, some horror aficionados appreciated the film for its cultural specificity and chilling mood. Overall, "Phoonk" is considered a niche horror film that offers a unique thematic approach but falls short in delivering consistent scares for a wider audience.
