Reviews
Pursuit holds a solid place within the classic Hong Kong martial arts genre, earning a IMDb rating of 6.7/10 that reflects generally favorable audience reception. Reviewers from genre-specific forums praise the film for its authentic fight scenes and Elliot Ngok Wah's compelling portrayal of Lin Chong. While the choreography and period setting receive commendation for immersing viewers in the era, some critics note that the pacing feels uneven at times, with occasional narrative lulls that impact engagement. A reviewer on Hong Kong Cinemagic states, "Pursuit captures the raw energy of early 70s martial arts cinema, driven by exhilarating duels and a strong central performance." However, some modern viewers might find the film's production values dated compared to contemporary standards. On Metacritic and Rotten Tomatoes, the film lacks sufficient mainstream critical coverage to provide aggregated ratings, which is common for many cult classic martial arts movies of that era. Overall, Pursuit is appreciated by fans of the genre for its authentic style and classic storytelling, though casual audiences might find its approach less accessible.
