Synopsis
In Rebound, Martin Lawrence stars as Roy McCormick, a once-great college basketball coach whose career has hit rock bottom after a public meltdown. Forced to take a job coaching a ragtag group of middle school players, he struggles to regain his confidence and find the joy in the game. The comedic journey reveals not only the challenges of coaching young, uncoordinated kids but also the life lessons that Roy learns along the way, including the importance of teamwork, mentorship, and perseverance. As he gradually embraces his new role, Roy discovers that winning isn't everything, and the real victory lies in building trust, inspiring his team, and perhaps, rediscovering the love for the sport that he once lost. 'Rebound' is a humorous and heartwarming movie that highlights the valuable bonds formed through sports, even when the odds seem stacked against you.

Critics have had a mixed reaction to Rebound, with the overall reception leaning towards the negative side. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds a mere 14% approval rating, indicating that most critics found little to praise in the movie. The consensus states, 'Despite Martin Lawrence's undeniable charm, 'Rebound' is a choppy and uninspired comedy that fails to deliver a solid game plan.' IMDb gives it a rating of 5.1/10, which reflects the lukewarm response from the audience as well, suggesting that viewers may appreciate some humor but find the film lacking in depth or originality. Metacritic assigns it a score of 36/100, indicating 'generally unfavorable reviews.' Some critiques specifically mention the film's reliance on clichรฉd sports movie tropes without offering anything fresh or engaging.
