Synopsis
Set against the eerie backdrop of 19th-century Japan, 'Requiem from the Darkness' follows the journey of a young writer named Momosuke, who is gathering material for his book on supernatural folklore. Along his travels, he encounters the enigmatic trio known as the Ongyou: Mataichi, a mysterious exorcist; Ogin, a shape-shifting woman; and Nagamimi, a hulking and silent monk. Together, they delve into the bizarre and disturbing stories of vengeful spirits, grotesque apparitions, and malevolent forces. As Momosuke is drawn deeper into their spectral investigations, he grapples with the thin line between reality and horror, learning that not all tales are merely fantastical legends.
