Reviews
Critically, Ringer received a mixed bag of reviews during its airing. On Rotten Tomatoes, it holds a score of 54% based on reviews from critics, which reflects a divide in opinion. Many praised Sarah Michelle Gellar’s performance, showcasing her ability to transition between the two characters seamlessly. For instance, The Hollywood Reporter noted, "Gellar effectively captures the nuances of both characters, making it a captivating watch." However, others criticized the show for its convoluted plot and pacing issues, with some calling it 'a soap opera with a twist.' Metacritic gives Ringer a score of 61, categorizing it as generally favorable reviews, while users on IMDb rated it 6.9/10, indicating a somewhat popular but not universally loved series. Critics from Entertainment Weekly pointed out, "Though the intrigue is present, the show often stumbles in execution, leading to a less impactful narrative." Overall, while Ringer had moments of brilliance, it struggled to maintain a consistent level of quality throughout its one-season run.
