Reviews
Sharaabi has been widely appreciated for its emotional depth and Amitabh Bachchan’s charismatic performance. On IMDb, it holds a respectable rating of 7.3/10, reflecting a generally positive audience reception. Critics have praised the film for blending melodrama with social commentary, with many noting Bachchan’s nuanced portrayal of a flawed yet lovable protagonist. The soundtrack, composed by Bappi Lahiri, is particularly celebrated for its catchy and soulful songs that complement the narrative perfectly. However, some reviews criticized the film for relying on conventional Bollywood tropes and melodramatic elements that may feel excessive for modern viewers. Rotten Tomatoes does not have an aggregated score for Sharaabi, but older critiques emphasize its role as a quintessential '80s Bollywood drama highlighting themes of paternal neglect and personal redemption. Overall, Sharaabi is regarded as a classic that resonates due to its performances and emotional storytelling, despite some predictable plot points.
