Reviews
The 2009 remake of 'The Prisoner' has garnered mixed reviews. IMDb users have rated the series at 6.1/10, indicating a lukewarm reception. Critics on Rotten Tomatoes have voiced various perspectives, with some praising the show's ambition and casting choices, while others have pointed out its convoluted plot. The Boston Globe described it as having 'a dreamlike quality thatโs both intriguing and frustrating,' while The Guardian opined that the series 'struggles to live up to its predecessor's brilliance.' Metacritic offers a more balanced view, highlighting strong performances, particularly from Ian McKellen, who 'delivers a masterful portrayal of Number Two.' However, the site's aggregated score indicates that viewers found the narrative to be 'overly complex and less engaging than the original.' Despite its flaws, 'The Prisoner' remains an interesting attempt at reimagining a cult classic, appealing to both new audiences and long-time fans of the original series.
