Reviews

Wolfman (1979) has garnered a mixed reception over the years, with critics and audiences split on its merits. On Rotten Tomatoes, user reviews reflect a significant divide, with some appreciating its classic horror elements, while others find it lacking in execution. For example, a review from IMDb states, 'Wolfman tries to invoke the feeling of old monster classics but falls short due to its outdated special effects and predictable plot.' The film has a rating of 3.0/10 on IMDb, indicating a general consensus of its flaws. According to Metacritic, while some appreciate the movie for its atmospheric setting and nostalgic value, others criticize it for its slow pacing and lack of character development. One critic writes, 'Earl Owensbyโ€™s ambitious attempt at creating a horror classic is hindered by technical shortcomings and uneven performances.' Despite these critiques, 'Wolfman' has a somewhat cult following among fans who adore 70s horror flicks. They commend its moody cinematography and the peculiar charm of lower-budget productions of that era. Overall, 'Wolfman' remains a piece of historical horror cinema that appeals to a niche audience while failing to impress mainstream viewers.
