Rotten Tomatoes does not have a widespread critic score available, but community feedback often highlights the movieโs predictable plot and underwhelming execution. Some reviewers appreciated the grim atmosphere and attempts at building tension; however, many felt that the narrative lacked originality and depth. Metacritic does not list Extinction, implying limited critical coverage. Quotes from viewers include comments such as "an interesting premise but ultimately falls flat," and "a forgettable addition to the post-apocalypse genre."
