Synopsis
The Turin Horse is a minimalist and philosophical Hungarian film directed by Béla Tarr and Ágnes Hranitzky. It portrays the story of a farmer and his daughter living a bleak and repetitive life in a desolate countryside after an encounter with a cab driver. The monotony of their existence, the declining health of the horse, and the relentless oppressive wind outside their home gradually take a toll on their physical and emotional well-being. As their routine unravels, the film offers a meditative reflection on the nature of existence, resilience, and the inevitability of decay. With stunning black and white cinematography and hauntingly beautiful long takes, The Turin Horse is a mesmerizing and contemplative journey into the depths of human experience.
