Reviews
Critics have mixed opinions about 'The Thing.' Rotten Tomatoes gives it a rating of 34%, with the site's consensus stating, 'It serves the bare serviceable minimum for a horror flick, but 'The Thing' is all boo-scares with no emotional core.' IMDb seems to somewhat agree, rating the film 6.2/10. On the other hand, Metacritic is a bit more generous with a score of 49/100. Some critics praised the film's tense atmosphere and strong performances, while others criticized its reliance on jump scares and lack of originality. The Guardian's Peter Bradshaw noted, 'Quickly and unimaginatively delivered without the subtleties and nuance of John Carpenter's original.' Despite the criticisms, the film manages to keep viewers on edge with its eerie setting and suspenseful sequences.
