After a boating accident leaves them stranded, they discover that the lake holds terrifying secrets and threats lurking beneath the surface. As tensions rise and friendships are tested, the characters must confront not only the dark waters around them but also the fears and insecurities within. With a chilling atmosphere and a pulse-pounding narrative, Beneath explores themes of trust, betrayal, and the primal instinct to survive as they grapple with their dire circumstances and face an unknown horror that dwells in the depths of the lake.

Reviews

Beneath received largely negative reviews from critics and audiences alike. On IMDb, it holds a score of 3.5/10, indicating a generally unfavorable reception. Rotten Tomatoes rates the film at 35%, reflecting its failure to resonate with viewers; critics cite a lack of originality and narrative cohesion. According to a review on MovieWeb, 'Beneath suffers from a dull script that fails to instill genuine terror, relying too heavily on tired horror tropes.' Metacritic gives the film a score of 40 out of 100, suggesting mixed or average reviews. A review from The Horror Show remarked, 'While the premise of friends trapped in a lake is intriguing, the execution leaves much to be desired, lacking the suspense that horror fans crave.' Despite some atmospheric visuals, the film has been criticized for its character development, with many noting that the leading characters are often unlikable or underdeveloped, which diminishes emotional investment in their survival. Overall, Beneath struggles to rise above its premise and ends as a cautionary tale about the perils of shallow storytelling in horror cinema.
