Reviews
Detroit Metal City has received mixed reviews from critics, showcasing a polarizing response to its unique blend of comedy and metal music. Some critics praised Kenichi Matsuyama's versatile performance, highlighting his ability to switch between the timid Negishi and the outrageous Krauser II seamlessly. Rotten Tomatoes gave the film a rating of 67%, with critics applauding its dark humor and energetic soundtrack. IMDb's rating of 6.6/10 indicates a more neutral reception, with some viewers appreciating the film's absurd comedy while others found it too over-the-top. Metacritic's score of 58 further reflects the divisive nature of Detroit Metal City, with critics acknowledging its niche appeal but questioning its overall coherence. Despite the mixed reviews, the film has garnered a cult following for its unapologetically wacky premise and memorable performances.
