Reviews
Vigilante, directed by William Lustig, received mixed reviews upon its release. Critics praised the performances, particularly Robert Forster's portrayal of a man torn between seeking justice and descending into violence. The tense atmosphere and realistic depiction of urban decay were also highlighted as strengths of the film. However, some critics found the graphic violence and bleak tone to be off-putting, with a few labeling it as exploitative. Despite the polarizing reception, Vigilante has garnered a cult following over the years, with fans appreciating its raw and unflinching look at vigilante justice. The film's gritty realism and gripping action sequences continue to resonate with audiences, making it a notable entry in the vigilante genre. IMDb gives Vigilante a rating of 6.5/10, while Rotten Tomatoes scores it at 20%.
