Synopsis
Set in post-World War II Vienna, 'The Night Porter' follows the complex and forbidden relationship between a former SS officer, Max, and a Holocaust survivor, Lucia, whom he once kept imprisoned in a concentration camp. As they unexpectedly encounter each other years later in a Viennese hotel where Max works as a night porter, the film delves into themes of trauma, power dynamics, and the effect of the past on the present.
